Smekermann This is great. It fuses krautrock sensibility to some truly powerful drumming (as in, he beats the hell out of them) and a monstrously sludgy bass tone.

Songs are a mixture of sludgy drones and fiery post-punk/krautrock workouts, like Fire Run With Me which features some absolutely gorgeous sludgy bass riffage backed by freight train-like motorik rhythms.

Al Suelo is another highlight, going from hard rock to Neu-like motorik rock, to some truly great stoner grooves.

Well worth your time. Favorite track: Fire run with me.

about

Fuzz-drenched bass, hypnotic loops, and layers of feedback over pummelling drums.

Cattiva began in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2017.

Channelling the Melvins, Big Business, Torche, Earth, Boris and Lightning Bolt, Adrian Cottrell and Nahuel Sanguinetti combine uplifting major key melodies with the sludgy heaviness of doom and the expansive psychedelia of stoner rock.

Sanguinetti’s pounding rhythms and Cottrell’s heavily distorted bass drive the melodic intensity of Cattiva’s debut self-titled album, fusing walls of feedback, thunderous riffs and motorik drumming.

Both previous members of the Argentine sludge metal trio, Antedios, Cottrell grew up playing guitar in the UK metallic hardcore band Chariots, releasing records on Holy Roar and Big Scary Monsters, while Sanguinetti drummed in Zann’s Music affiliated Argentine doom quartet, Stilte.
